Caffeine

This is a well-known, natural stimulant that is excellent for encouraging good quality hair growth. It works hard from the hair’s root, right at the early stages of hair growth by targeting DHT (the hormone that causes hair loss). DHT stops proteins, vitamins and minerals from nourishing the hair’s follicles so preventing healthy hair growth. Caffeine works in reverse and stimulates the energy that hair needs to grow so your hair is free from DHT attack.

Panthenol (Vitamin B5)

This essential vitamin works as an anti-inflammatory and in hair, it calms and soothes scalp irritation while providing intense hydration. The ingredient is easily absorbed by the skin and it helps to metabolise epidermal cells while hydrating the epithelial tissue. Additionally, this vitamin promotes cell regeneration and boosts hair elasticity so hair feels supple and stops breaking off.

Inside the hair shaft, Panthenol enables the hair to retain its moisture and volume so hair grows healthily and has increased elasticity.

Panthenol continues to help hair grow to the optimum by fighting against environmental damage and keeping essential hydration locked into each strand. Finally, Panthenol adds shine, improves hair texture and prevents tangling.

May Chang

May Chang (Litsea Cubeba) is an evergreen shrub native to Southern Asia that can reach 10 meters high with small berries resembling peppers. Despite its lemon-scented leaves and flowers, it doesn’t belong to the citrus fruits family.

May Chang Oil has potent antibacterial properties, is highly effective in inhibiting and preventing infection, even against E. Coli.

It possesses strong anti-inflammatory elements and can help to relieve pain in joints and muscles and even have long-term benefits on these areas.

A 2019 laboratory study showed the May Chang was effective against MRSA, a resistant bacteria that can be hard to treat and even become life-threatening. The oil broke through the protective barrier around the bacteria, which may lead to either the destruction of the cell or the allowance of other antibiotic treatments to work.

A 2017 study also found that the use of May Chang essential oil helped to reduce the appearance of acne by killing the bacteria trapped in skin pores and reducing the markers of inflammation.

Bisabolol

Sourced from the Candeia tree, Bisabolol works to promote the best possible absorption of nutrients into the skin. It calms skin inflammation because it acts as a natural anti- inflammatory.

When skin is exposed to the sun, Bisabolol helps to delay reddening caused by UV rays. In turn, it soothes and calms irritated skin and is especially suited to sensitive skin and skin that’s prone to acne, breakouts, rashes, rosacea, psoriasis, redness and sunburn. Additionally, Bisabolol is intensely moisturising as it contains a high concentration of Panthenol (a derivative of vitamin B). This helps skin to retain its moisture and prevents dryness.

Its ability to travel deep into the dermis means Bisabolol is able to plump up the skin and reduce fine lines and wrinkles and it stops the enzymes that break down collagen, instead, it stimulates collagen growth. Used in anti-ageing skincare, it can even delay the signs of ageing.

Another benefit of Bisabolol is that it is intensely healing and studies have proven that it speeds up the skin’s healing process following mild burns, skin irritation and sunburn. As it works well to prevent UV rays penetrating the skin, it’s excellent for those that suffer with hyperpigmentation because it inhibits the melanin synthesis.

Finally, Bisabolol has antimicrobial properties so it kills germs before they enter the skin, reducing the possibility of skin infections.

✅ Excellent for boosting moisture levels in the skin and keeping it hydrated

✅ Prevents collagen break-down

✅ Encourages collagen production

✅ Anti-ageing, helps to fade fine lines and wrinkles and prevents further lines developing

✅ Heals mild burns, skin irritation and sunburn
